Trackovo vs buildcontrol: Comparing Two Construction Site Apps for India

If you are comparing Trackovo with the buildcontrol construction app, you are probably running one or more sites and trying to fix the same old problems: material going missing, labour hajiri fights, and bills that arrive before you know what was used. Both apps are made for Indian contractors and builders, so the honest way to choose is to test both on the same questions and the same site. This article gives you a simple method to do that.

Who each app is for

Trackovo is made for Indian contractors, builders, site engineers and interior firms. It covers material requests, approvals, orders, receipts and stock, labour attendance with photo and site location, wages and contractor settlement, payments and expenses, vendors, tasks, daily progress, measurement book, machines and tools, and client updates. It runs on Android, iPhone and web.

buildcontrol is also a construction management app used by Indian contractors. It is aimed at firms that want to track projects and site activity from their phones. That is about as much as we can fairly say here. For its exact modules, prices and plan limits, check the buildcontrol website yourself or ask them for a written quote before you decide.

The same 10 questions for both apps

Do not compare feature lists on marketing pages. Instead, take one real site and ask both apps the same ten questions:

  1. Can my mistri or supervisor raise a material request from the site, and can I approve it from my phone?
  2. When material arrives, can we record the receipt with photo proof and a challan reference?
  3. Can we track stock left on site, so we know when to order sand, cement or tiles again?
  4. Can labour hajiri be marked with photo and site location, so nobody marks a proxy entry from home?
  5. Can we calculate wages from attendance and settle with labour contractors without a week of Excel work?
  6. Can we record site kharcha, machine hire and payments site by site?
  7. Can we keep a measurement book and daily progress report that the client can see?
  8. Do labour, contractors and staff get free logins, or do they count as paid users?
  9. Can our accountant get the data out – GST, TDS, and an export for Tally?
  10. If we stop using the app next year, will the company give us our data back?

Write down each answer as you see it in the app, not as the salesperson describes it. Ask for a trial login for both and spend one hour each. If you currently run sites on spreadsheets, our construction Excel templates can help you list what you actually use today, so you know what to test for.

Trackovo’s answers to the 10 questions

Stop juggling WhatsApp groups, Excel sheets, and paper registers

Trackovo runs every part of your construction site in one app — materials, attendance, finance, vendor payments. 14-day free trial. No card needed.

Here is how Trackovo answers, including the honest limits.

Material

Material requests, approvals, orders, receipts and stock are all in the app. A supervisor can raise an indent from site, you approve it, and the delivery is recorded as a GRN with photo proof. To see how the flow works, read material management. If you want to compare with your current register, see our material stock register format in Excel and the material indent format guide.

Labour and attendance

Attendance is marked with photo and site location. Wages and contractor settlement sit in the same module, so hajiri, bills and payments match. Details are on the attendance and salary page and the wider labour management page. Trackovo does not sell biometric hardware and does not use face recognition – photo plus location is the method. If you currently use a paper sheet, our labour attendance sheet format for Excel and the hajiri app guide are useful references.

Money

Site-wise payments and expenses, with GST and TDS handling, and a Tally export. To be clear: it is an export, not a live Tally integration. Your accountant imports the file into Tally themselves. See finance management and the site expense register format if you want to compare with your current book.

Progress and client updates

Tasks, daily progress and a measurement book are built in, and you can send clients updates from the app. For the daily report format, see DPR software and our DPR format Excel template. For estimates, see the BOQ software page and the BOQ Excel guide for Indian contractors.

Users, pricing and limits

Labour, contractors and staff log in free and unlimited on every plan. Only office and site roles count as users. Every module is in every plan. Launch prices, valid till 31 March 2027 and with 18% GST extra, are: Starter Rs 1,799 per month or Rs 17,999 per year for 3 core users and 5 active projects; Growth Rs 2,999 per month or Rs 29,999 per year for 6 core users and 12 projects; Scale Rs 5,399 per month or Rs 53,999 per year for 12 core users and 30 projects. Full details are on the plans page. There is a 14-day free trial with no card needed.

What Trackovo does not do

No offline working – you need network on site to record entries. No construction CRM for chasing leads. No biometric or face recognition hardware. No design, drawing or 3D tools. No live Tally link. If any of these is a hard requirement for you, that matters more than anything else in this article. For buildcontrol’s position on the same points, ask them directly or check their website.

How to run a side-by-side trial on one site

The cheapest way to decide is to run both apps on one site for two weeks with five workers. Here is a plan:

  1. Pick a small site with one supervisor and about five labourers. Small means less damage if one app proves weak.
  2. Give each app one week, or run both in parallel for one week if your supervisor can manage.
  3. On day one, set up materials, labour, and the site in both apps. Note how long setup takes. Trackovo’s team helps import data from Excel; ask buildcontrol what they offer.
  4. Every day: mark hajiri, raise one material request, record one receipt, and write one line of daily progress.
  5. At the end of the week, try three tasks: settle wages for the five workers, check stock balance, and produce one report for the client.
  6. Score both apps against your answers to the ten questions. Then check the yearly cost for your team size on each – for Trackovo use the plans page, for buildcontrol ask for a written quote.

Also ask both companies one question at the start: if we leave, will you export our data? Trackovo exports your data on request. Get buildcontrol’s answer in writing too.

Which firm should pick which

Be honest about your own answers rather than about the apps.

Pick Trackovo if most of these are true: you want one app covering material, labour, money and progress together; you need unlimited free logins for labour, contractors and staff because counting them as paid users would be too costly; you want GST and TDS records with a Tally export for your accountant; and your sites mostly have network coverage, since offline working is not available.

Look harder at buildcontrol if your answers point the other way – for example, if their pricing, support or specific modules fit your workflow better. Also read our comparisons with Powerplay and Onsite, and our wider guides on construction management software in India, labour attendance apps, site management software, construction ERP in India and construction project management apps.

Whatever you choose, move off paper and WhatsApp-only records. Even a half-used app beats a lost munshi register. To estimate labour costs before you commit, try our calculators, including the labour cost calculator.

Common questions

Is Trackovo cheaper than buildcontrol?

We do not list buildcontrol’s prices here; check their website or ask for a written quote for your team size. Trackovo’s launch prices are on the plans page: Starter Rs 1,799 per month or Rs 17,999 per year, Growth Rs 2,999 per month or Rs 29,999 per year, and Scale Rs 5,399 per month or Rs 53,999 per year, valid till 31 March 2027 with 18% GST extra. Remember to compare like with like: in Trackovo, labour, contractors and staff are free and unlimited, so only count your office and site roles as users.

Does Trackovo work without internet on site?

No. Trackovo does not claim offline working, so you need network coverage on site or the entries have to wait until you get signal. If your sites are in areas with poor coverage, test this during your trial week on the actual site. Ask buildcontrol the same question and verify it on the site yourself, because marketing pages do not always match reality on a dusty plot with one bar of signal.

Does Trackovo connect to Tally directly?

No. Trackovo handles GST and TDS in its records and gives a Tally export that your accountant imports into Tally. It is not a live integration, so data does not sync automatically both ways. Many small firms find the export is enough because their accountant does the Tally entry weekly anyway. If you need a live link, ask both vendors plainly before paying anything.

How long should a proper trial take?

Two weeks is enough for a small side-by-side test: one site, one supervisor, five workers, daily hajiri, one material request and one receipt per day. At the end, settle wages, check stock and produce one client report in each app. Trackovo’s free trial runs 14 days with no card needed. Ask buildcontrol for a trial of similar length so the comparison is fair, and keep your written score sheet from the ten questions as your final decision record.
