How the labour cost is calculated
Each trade’s daily cost is the number of people x the daily rate. The team’s daily cost is the sum of the trades, and the cost for the period is that figure x the working days (26 is a normal month with Sundays off). Overtime is paid per hour at 1.5 x the hourly rate, where the hourly rate is the daily rate / 8. Labour cost per sq ft divides the total by the built-up area being worked on, which is the number most contractors quote and compare. The settlement line subtracts any advance already paid so the amount still due is visible.
Worked example (default inputs)
2 masons at Rs 900, 4 helpers at Rs 600, 2 carpenters at Rs 900, 1 bar bender at Rs 900, 1 electrician at Rs 1,000 and 1 supervisor at Rs 1,200 cost Rs 9,100 a day. Over 26 days that is Rs 2,36,600. On a 2,000 sq ft slab cycle that is Rs 118.30 per sq ft of labour. With no advance, the full Rs 2,36,600 is due at month end.
What is the labour cost per sq ft for house construction in India?
For a conventional RCC house, labour alone usually works out between Rs 250 and Rs 400 per sq ft over the whole structure and finishing in 2026, depending on the city and finish level. The calculator shows one period and one team; add the periods for the full job.
How is overtime calculated for construction labour?
Hourly rate = daily rate / 8. Overtime hours are paid at 1.5 x the hourly rate (double in some states and under some contracts). Enter the hours per person per day and the calculator applies them to everyone; change the factor in the script if your contract differs.
How do I handle advances and hajiri disputes?
Keep the attendance count and the advance on the same sheet. The calculator’s settlement line is period cost minus advance; if the days actually worked differ from the plan, change the working days and the settlement updates.
